Promiscuity was satirized in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, and as much as we would like to believe our society is not nearing the vulgar actions of the New World State, we should not believe in such unrealistic concepts. Some of the same struggles that were faced in the book are being seen more and more in our world today. Even though there is some uncertainty and minute resilience in the novel, promiscuity is an ongoing battle in the New World State and on the Reservation; likewise, current society is showing that the intimacy shared between two people could be replaced by a rising acceptance of promiscuity.

“Naked in the warm June sunshine, six or seven hundred little boys and girls were running with shrill yells over the lawns, or playing ball games, or squatting silently in twos and threes among the flowering shrubs.” (Huxley 30) shows a small part of what the culture is like in the New World State. Even at this young of an age, children are encouraged to take part in sexual play to increase their promiscuity in the future. One little boy in particular, chooses to not play with another girl. A nurse expresses her concern and frustration with this little boy by saying, “It’s just that this little boy seems rather reluctant to join in the ordinary erotic play. I’d noticed it once or twice before. And now again to-day. He started yelling just now…” (Huxley 31-32). She then continues with, “I’m taking him in to see the Assistant Superintendent of Psychology. Much like the people of the New World State, being promiscuous from the get-go is more damaging than not. In a scenario suggested by mark Gungor, when a man has sex before marriage, he will do all he can to relive that experience, whether it is with role playing or finding more partners. Nevertheless, whomever he is with, “He is not really interested in the girl; he is interested in the sex.” … “NOTHING impacts a man like his first sexual experience.” (Gungor). Not only does this damage his relationship beyond his erotic play, but he is also allowing himself to live a promiscuous lifestyle. The biggest issue with this is the fact that our society is doing nothing to stop this behavior.
Other studies have shown results that suggests that sex promotes brain growth. Though this may be true, it still encourages that sex is beneficial. “The rats that had more sex also had adult brain cells grow, as well as a rise in the number of connections between brain cells.” (Choi) appeals to many people, I am sure. Who would not take this advice to heart if they wanted to live a bawdy lifestyle? More and more of these studies are being conducted, which means more and more results that promote sex are being given to the
