Daisy has a whit to her that I see in my friends and the way Miss. Baker is so serious but won't mind indulging in some drama is so realistic. On page 17, Daisy is speaking of her daughter, and she states “that’s best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.” I believe that during this time it was a given the women must turn the other cheek and do what they are told. Nowadays it isn't so much like that. I see women as equals to men, they can be much more than beautiful fools as Daisy believes. To the readers it is quite obvious that Daisy isn't a fool, she's quite sensible and

It’s been twelve years since Gatsby has passed away, looking back at all the times we shared together I regret so much, I now realize what Gatsby felt like when I told him I would wait for him but fell in love with Tom; that feeling of unrequited love must've hurt Gatsby so much. I think it's kind of funny how I remember the way I used to act, how I would always explicitly ask almost every man, “Are you in love with me?” knowing without a doubt that I was leading them on to believe they might have a chance with me but they didn’t have an y sort of chance at all, I was only satisfying my pride to feel manipulative, although I do admit it felt powerful and so atrocious. What I do regret the most is not going to Gatsby funeral when I know that…

I chose this passage because I believe that this shows a turning point for the main characters realizing what effect the euphio can have. The first thing I noticed about this passage was the confidence, Fred had about turning off the device if something goes wrong. The second thing I noticed was the sleep like state that the characters fall into. These contradict each other because Fred believes that he’ll be conscious enough to have the ability to stop the machine the moment the euphio turns on, you can see this is not possible. The mood in this passage creates a sense of forbearing that the reader can feel that something is going to happen; even though the characters all believe that everything is going to be okay.…

In The Great Gatsby, Scott Fitzgerald uses the leitmotif of temperature to symbolize moods and tensions that foreshadow what is going to happen between the characters. Fitzgerald uses the cold to show the characters feelings. He uses heat to show how tension rises between characters’ true feeling and emotions that are hidden by their outside appearances. In the quote, "In this heat every extra gesture was an affront to the common store of life” (Fitzgerald 145) Fitzgerald uses temperature to bring the characters back to their realities and connect them to their true feelings.…
