All psychology practitioners know the seven approaches to psychology; however, not all seven apply. One approach that does apply is the evolutionary approach. The evolutionary approach states that mental abilities evolve over millions of years. An example of this would be vision. Vision, while not entirely psychological in nature, did develop gradually over many years. Similar to vision, the human attention span and memory evolved with us. The human attention span ranges anywhere from eight to twelve seconds, depending on the person, while memory remains too complex to describe in a simple sentence. Memory remains a complicated brain-wide process. Both of these amazing aspects of the human mind developed to be the way they are for a reason.
