In today’s society implicit bias is more prominent. This bias is the unconscious level of prejudice, when making judgments of other ethnic groups. It is the automatic response to someone of a different race or ethnicity. A person may be unaware of their implicit bias because it lies in the subconscious. This bias is usually triggered when a person is in the presence of race. A person may have an implicit bias towards weight, sex, gender, skin color, and more. No matter what, everyone has an implicit bias. In our everyday lives, we make decisions based off of the biases that we have. Associations that are made between age, race, ethnicity, and more develop through the course of a lifetime. People are taught and learn to act a certain way around different groups. Starting as a young child people are primed to think a certain way about a social group. For example, Ben imagines that both men and women are suited for different careers outside of the home. They are alike in how they are passed down from generation to generation. The music that is within pop culture has influenced society, especially the lyrics and the genres. Pop culture also influences different social groups. Each social group has their own way of presenting themselves, especially in the way they dress. This creates bias because outsiders who are looking in, make judgments about them. Knowingly or not, judgments are made whether to be or not to be associated with them. For example, a white person may not want to be associated with black musicians because of a predisposing about them, due to the music that they listen
