I thought it was very interesting to learn about preimage. It is something we often hear about but never really discuss or learn about in a classroom setting (at least not in most classes taken by STEM students). I think it is important to acknowledge that we all have certain privileges and that they shouldn’t be taken for granted. I may be gay and Latino and those are targeted areas but I also have privilege for being a man, cis gender, able bodied, middle socioeconomic Statius, and Christian. It reminds me that I can use my privilege support others who aren’t as privileged. I especially think it is important to discuss these topics due to the current presidency and political climate. The president has been very vocal about his personal feelings towards memories and Latinos and Arab Americans in particular. Growing up as a minority in rural Iowa I experienced some racism, but I believe do to Trumps comments people feel emboldened to say and do racist things.
