Staff recognition will mean that the staff at Deli Twist will work with greater effort to carry out a job with a higher quality of output. Another effect of staff recognition is that it will make the employees at Deli Twist more eager to work harder, which will benefit the business as its staff will be prepared to increase its determination to help out more due to being recognised. This achievement will enable workers to move up the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs (Diagram 3) to the self-actualisation level where the workers will realise their dreams and potential. The consequence of this is that the workers will become more creative and put forward ideas that will benefit the business. For example, staff may agree on keeping the bakery shop open for an extra half hour on weekends or invent another flavour for the pretzels. Photo 1 shows the current opening times of Deli Twist. On Saturdays, the shop closes at 6p.m. so Deli Twist could close at 6:30 p.m. Therefore, again, there will be more sales so that Deli Twist’s revenue increases, which is beneficial because it increases profit.

This gives them more advantage of having better leadership skills, but as for those who cannot handle their time properly or not perform well will be de-motivated because they will believe that they don’t have the best abilities like the employees that are well organised. Their low spirits has to be raised by other methods of motivation other than employee recognition since it is essential for employers to remove staff intentions of leaving their jobs.
