Walgreens managers follow the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory. Following examples explain how the theory takes place in every walgreens store. (Book)The beginning of Maslow's theory is Physiological side of things, which refers to things to help someone survive such and food water and shelter. Walgreens has a perfect structure that is constantly being maintained like the beams, roofing, locked doors, bullet proof glass in pharmacy, and also little things like sanitation of the bathrooms and counters. Walgreens offers no free drinks except for ones awarded to the employee or from the water fountain. (Dave, Rob, Book). There is a constant feeling of confidence when working for Walgreens because of the recognition that is given to an employee after finishing a certain task. Walgreens offers constant rewards such as gift cards and food by being part of certain in store games such as the question of the week, a person is picked out of the entire staff to tell a manger an event that happened in their life to be a question for all of the staff to try an answer. After all staff has put in a choice of who the person might be as the answer, the winner gets a snack and a drink. Final part of Maslow's Theory is Self Actualization, where you desire to become the best you can be. Mr. Arias explains how self actualization is dealt with in store. Arias stated that you are given a list as soon as you start work to go by for the day. The list with go in alphabetical order of what is important to what is least important but still needs to be taken care of. The list will most of the time say general things like take care of such as taking care of the trash, take care of facing (Bringing items up the front of the shelf to look fuller).
