Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe as we all know it did not have a good life. Death was the center of his life. Women figures in his life always died from tuberculosis. Each death always brought a poem of his love. Poe belongs in the Romanticism period based on his works. Poes journey begins January 19, 1809 in Boston. He is born as Edgar Poe his parents are Elizabeth Poe and David Poe Jr., he was one brother who is William Henry Leonard. Both of Poes parents are actors. “They travel a lot between different theaters” (Binns). David Poe Jr. was a hero of the Revolutionary war. Poes family had very little money, shortly after Poe was born his “father abandoned the family” (Binns). His mother Elizabeth becomes very ill she has tuberculosis, Poe is only three and does not understand what is happening. Days go by and it is now December 8 Poes mother slowly slips into her death. Now Poe and his brother William are left fatherless and motherless. “A local business man named John Allan and his wife Frances Allan” (Binns) takes Poe into their home. “The Allan never adopted Poe” (Binns) but they treat him as their own son. “In June 1815 they move to London and Poe attends the Manor House School in Stoke Newington” (Binns). Later that same year they move back to Richmond Virginia. Yet again Frances becomes ill with tuberculosis. Frances dies April 1824 Poe is left with John Allan. Poe is now sixteen and meets Elmira Royster he instantly falls in love with her. “They get engaged…
