Edgar Allan Poe, born in January 19, 1809 was a famous editor and, a literary critic known for his famous and meticulous horror poems like The Raven and The Masque of the Red Death which were written in the early 1800s. Poe lived a heartbreak and trauma filled life, for instance, most of his female loved ones died from tuberculosis, this in itself could have drastically affected the way he wrote his poems. Poe’s dark and mysterious poems played an ironic part in the way he died. His death is divided among many different theories, from rabies and alcohol poisoning to a beating and a murder. The fact that between September 27 and October 3, all of Poe’s everyday actions wasn't able to be collected from, meaning there isn't any information about what happened between that time to really prove anything about Poe’s death. For all we know, Poe could have have been drugged or affected in some way during that time. Also, many evidence collected from hair samples to the time and places he stayed at, suggest a different way he died. For example, rabies, which one medical professional further looked into. This doctor mentioned the recorded problems Poe had while in the hospital from hallucinations to a high pulse rate and delirium, which are signs of rabies. He also died during the 19th century where rabies was a common disease. There is still that lingering question of how exactly did he get those clothes which obviously didn't belong to him. You do have to think about the evidence being alcohol consumed with his friend, J.P. Kennedy records stating, “On tuesday last Edgar A. Poe died in town here at the hospital from the effects of a debauch… He fell in with some companion who seduced him to the bottle, which is was said he had renounced some time ago” (Natasha Geiling Smithsonian.com). This information heavily weighs in favor of alcohol poison since it was recorded that he did consume alcohol and that he would drink alcohol if someone did seduce him in such manner.With that
