Continuing Personal and Professional Development

Task 1:

The role of a teacher has changed considerably over the years in the past the teacher may have been perceived as being the fountain of all knowledge and the purveyor of information. I would like to think we are still the fountain of all knowledge but the way we deliver our courses has changed considerably. We no longer stand at the front of the class with rows and rows of learners sitting waiting for us to transmit the information to them.

As a teacher we are now the facilitator of knowledge. Our job is to guide the learners and allow them to take responsibility for there own learning. We are less likely to have students in rows in front of us and more likely to have

When reflecting on my lessons I would be getting a feeling of how well it is going.

Evaluation is about me thinking about what went good and what went bad in the session.

Analysis is me coming up with some answers about why parts went good and why they went bad.

Conclusion is when I decide what else I could have done or what I should have done to make the session go better.

Action plan is when I come up with a plan about what I will do different next time.

Johns' model of reflection (1994)
Johns model of reflection was originally aimed at practicing nurses reflection but can also be used from a teachers point of reflection. It is an easy to complete model as the question are already completed and you just need to follow them step by step. After completing each question you have a complete model of reflection.
