Dress codes, something that everyone usually obeys, it is everywhere, at school, at work, and at many other public places. What are dress codes? Dress codes are a series of rules that do not allow a person to wear a certain clothing, most dress codes are made to prevent someone from wearing something that is inappropriate for that location, for example, schools wouldn’t allow people to be wearing something that is offensive to others. Depending on the area, the dress code can be either very strict or not strict at all, some can have many rules while others have only a few. Organization is key to a successful company, but I’m not saying it is absolutely necessary. The reason why it maintains order is, it helps to know if there is someone that is not supposed to be there. For example, in a school with a dress code, it would be easier to spot out if there is an intruder because they could be wearing something against the dress code, or if they are not wearing their uniform. “According to one survey conducted by the NAESP, principals of schools that have uniform policies in place believe that students stay more disciplined and focused in their studies and feel less peer pressure.”(School Dress Codes Are Necessary and Constitutional) Many principals believe that their students are more focused, have more school spirit, and less peer pressured. Dress codes are sexist or demeaning to girls, dress codes are more strict on girls because girls have a wider variety of clothes than boys, which include some that are revealing too. “High school is the training ground for real life. Many jobs have dress codes, and you must comply. There is plenty of time to wear what you want outside of school and work!”(Ally Del Monte) This is true many may disagree but it is a fact. Another con they would say is, some rules aren’t specific enough, but it shouldn’t matter, usually, if someone says, “Does this follow the dress code?” It probably doesn’t follow the dress code, and it doesn’t hurt to check online if it does or not, maybe ask a friend, now there will be people saying that dress codes while take away the time to get to school because they are worried if it is against the code or not, this kind of doesn’t make sense because if someone is that worried that means they don’t have any regular
