Dorothy Parker Dorothy Parker is a poet, an author, and she has written multiple short stories focusing on the point of views of women and their 'obsessive' needs. The two short stories, "The Waltz" and "A Telephone Call", both written by Dorothy Parker, do very good jobs outlining her usual style of writing. "The Telephone Call" is focusing on a woman who is overly obsessed with a man who promised to phone her at around 5 o'clock. When he never phones, this girl turns to God and is praying for him to phone, and even prays to cause him pain and goes a bit nutty in the process. "The Waltz" is a similar story of a woman and a man, although this time, the woman is not at all interested in the man and tells him she would "adore to" dance with him, when in reality, she is not interested in dancing with him at all. She observes him dancing with another girl, and felt pity for her, and then feels that pity for herself having to be seen with this man. About half way through the story, she realizes she is in love with this man, and that he isn't the worst dancer. …show more content…
Focusing on these two short stories, both written by Dorothy Parker, they show the plot structure that develops how these women are insane and bipolar, conflict which creates tension in the stories and shows a different side to women, and
