What do successful managers do differently?

Leadership skills are mandatory for managers today. You then realize that not everyone that ended up in a managerial position gets their leadership skills activated. While successful managers are born, successful managers are also made. This happens whenever managers in need of improvement find tips on how it can be duplicated on themselves.

Most of the successful managers help get everyone’s talents to the spotlight. This surely involves teamwork with the manager at the helm of the operations. Hence the follow-up meetings weekly. Getting busy at work does not mean accomplishing tasks on a daily and weekly basis. If ever, they are more about accomplishments because being busy can be faked now.

Does it strike a nerve? The logic behind putting accomplishments above hard work for some managers meant that the effort infused into the job produced sweet fruit. Some managers risk getting called pricks for asking the not-so-nice question “If you have been working so hard, how come you are not accomplishing anything?” Managers who are not afraid to offend sensibilities end up getting more work done not only at their desk but on their team as well.

- Aiming instead of blaming
Playing the blame game rarely accomplishes anything. It pushes the workforce to find someone to punish for everything that went wrong in the work flow. It becomes more about who should be making up for all the mistakes that occurred than participating to get everything done

And now we ended up working more”. That sounds selfish. If some members of the work force are more concerned about how they feel than where the company should be heading, ask them how can they make the situation better without resorting to blaming other people, whether the latter deserved the workplace scorn or not. It challenges them to think of better solutions than spend time picking on their co-workers. Everyone works hard. Not everyone complains. A successful manager conditions his team to work for solutions instead of wasting energy
