Distinctively Visual Analysis Klimt

Improved Essays
In this painting you can clearly see the three people but if you look beyond that you find another picture. The middle aged woman on the right has a light blue ribbon/curtain wrapping around her. In previous paintings Klimt uses blue as a representative for death. So its making its way up her body showing how much longer she has to live. It is nearly half way up her leg but for the child it has just passed her ankle. Klimt was a symbolist painter meaning he uses mythological symbols to explain his symbols. Around the older lady is a lot of browns, blacks and oranges these are looked at as deeper and dark colours but the middle aged woman has bright blues and yellows surrounding her. This shows that the colours have ‘faded’ because she is older.

The artist uses complementary colors that tug equally at the eye. She uses a dynamic contrast of red and green to two of the shapes. Due to this, the artist keeps the viewers eyes from resting on one area of the composition for far too long. In this painting, Dorothea uses value contrast to show the differences in dark and light. While some tones appear lighter due to the artist adding white as if illuminated, other tones are darkened as if to suggest that a light has caused the shapes to have created shadows.…

Color: The painting has a combination of complimentary colors that give the piece a warm look. For instance, the yellow and orange provides light to the composition and also add a visual depth to it because both colors reflect the scheme of a peaceful night. In addition, the blue in the sky beautifully portrays harmony throughout the painting, and the black in the background perfectly contrasts with the blue in the sky and the circled white brush strokes…

This picture is black and white of young boy called Flavio, feeding rice to his younger brother Zacarias. My first impression of Flavio’s archive was that it seemed to be a very sad story. This photo shows the horrors of poverty and Flavio’s strength to survive, and even the courage to accept death without even thinking about himself but of his brothers and sisters. I did some research and found out that Flavio is a 12-year-old boy who has the huge responsibility of being an adult. He is able to accept this responsibility while still remaining vibrant and hopeful even though Flavio is suffering from a physical illness, poverty, overwork and worry.…

As for the bright palette: ‘You just need to walk into her (olley) home, which is also her studio, to see that you couldn’t use anything but striking colour. It’s full of translucent works-in-progress, beautiful drawings, sculptures and flowers, so I wanted the portrait to reflect that. ’(Quilty, 2011) This portrait was painted not long before Olley died, tieing a extra deep importance to it. Both artist knew Olley but at different times in her life, but it is sill visible the same physical characteristics, round face and big eyes.…

In the piece drawn by the artist Mike Luckovich, there is no title for the picture provided, the artist uses both text and figures to enhance the message. The piece of art is in color. Although he uses humor as a strategy, the author is serious about what he is portraying as an issue. He uses a standard font, but capitalized. The layout divides the picture into four different scenes, it shows president Obama in all four scenes, he is sitting down behind a table and facing the screen, wearing different suits in each scene, and his face expression shows that he is serious.…

Analysis with the Principles of Art and Design Intertwining with the previous chapter and analysis, Epic of American Civilization: Anglo-America (panel 15) by Jose Clemente Orozco, the visual elements (line, shape, mass, light, value, color, texture, space, and possibly time and motion) must be organized in such a way as to satisfy the artists expressive intent. And this intent is where this current chapter comes into play (chapter 5). For the artist these new elements offer guidelines for making the most effective choices. These new principles of design most often identified are unity and variety, balance, emphasis and subordination, proportion and scale, and rhythm. Our Souls in Slow Movement, is a symbolist painting by Denis, as part of his album Amour, of two sisters sitting by a piano. The younger girl, Eva, is playing the piano while her sister, Marthe, listens. Adagio refers to a tempo marking, indicating that the music is to be played slowly, or a composition intended to be played in this manner. Therefore, Denis chooses the slow Adagio movement for his title because Eva is playing the piano, creating music. The sisters look at peace and in a dreamy and relaxed state of mind as they both have their eyes closed, focusing on the music.…

The first piece that I’m going to discuss is “The kiss” by Klimt. I’m so moved by this painting not for the depiction itself but for the technique and time that he used. This is perhaps Klimt's most popular and notorious artwork of sexual love. The kiss is a very dynamic and distinctive piece in that you can clearly tell that the man and woman are in some form of love (or maybe they are just friends). The man that alone makes the piece is holding the woman so closely and lovingly.…

Munch then uses a light color on the human forms in the areas of the face and hands to show that this figure is not one figure but two human forms coming together in an embrace. Munch and Klimt’s paintings are different in the aspect of color composition. Munch uses dark color and shading to show the differences in his human forms while Klimt uses light colors of gold and different shades of gold to show his human forms. One similarity between the two is Munch and Klimt stick to one particular color and use different shades of that color to show the form of their…
