The outcome of an act depends on who or what that action targets. For example, last november I decided to run away. At that point I had bit the bullet too many times, and I could stand my father no more. Of course, my fifteen year-old self was clear of the consequences that could follow, such as: ending up in actual danger, being arrested or detained, getting lost, or becoming hurt. However, my logical conscience was no match for my pumping adrenaline. After all, I did face punishment from my dad as well as being behind in school for a few days. I was grounded for almost two months, but the measures I took to attempt to open my father’s eyes and force him to realize that I am not his little girl anymore had worked successfully. Some parts of my relationship with my family were harmed by my outrageous actions, but nevertheless, the pros of the situation outweighed the cons. I felt as if my mind was being suffocated by my father’s demands and unrealistic expectations of me as a busy teenager, so I took control of my life for a moment and did what was in my personal best interest. The act of me running away was a catalyst for change. If I had not taken such drastic measures that I so profoundly did, I am sure that my life now (11 months after running away) would have less opportunities and freedom because a system does not tend to change when the system is not being questioned. This type of rebellion is referring to terrorist groups, including the well known, ISIS organization. This is an example of how disobedience against morality and ethics can be diminishing or cause damage to those exposed to the rebels. Because of ISIS’s violent agenda, some may come to believe that disobedience in general is toxic and can only bring about bad news. Although, ISIS has some painful motives, they do not represent the act of just disobeying. This group has exceeded the definition of misbehaving. They are hurting innocent people which does not bring about much of a change for anyone besides those directly affected. The people who fight back against ISIS are often times routing for a healthy change in our world. The only way to overcome the negative behaviors of terrorist groups is to unite as a whole and stand all of our grounds. This would require putting aside our problems that are not as important, and in turn, the world could experience change that is for the better. Some people cannot look at our problems from more than one perspective. Defeating ISIS would require disobedience against terrorists who wish to gain control and may also count as rebelling against morals, ethics, or religions to do so.
