Disobedience In The United States

Disobedience is often looked at as an unfavorable trait. Disobedience can sometimes result in progress, but also other times it can result in distress or conflict. When the world as a whole is viewed, disobedience has been used as a tool either to gain triumph or to invoke conflict. Disobedience isn’t necessarily good or bad, it all depends on what the final goal is to determine whether it was worth it. In some cases disobedience is needed in order to make progress. Most countries in the world today got their independence through rebellion. This is one of the situations in which disobedience did indeed have a favourable outcome. The United States itself got its independence by a series of rebellions. The U.S. refused to pay taxes that the British imposed on them, they refused to obey several laws that were passed and discriminated against the British troops that were in the U.S. at the time. Through this act of disobedience the United States was able to acquire its independence. When news about land that was “discovered” by Columbus was sent out, America became a destination magnet for those who were looking for a better life. As immigrants started moving in they discovered that the land was already inhabited and that there was nothing new about the ‘New World”. Instead of acting accordingly and respectively , the new immigrants almost wiped the natives out of existence. Their lands were taken away and they were completely excluded. Nature was also a victim of the immigration. The Bisons were almost hunted to extinction and the landscape was cleared in order to prepare for industrialization. Some acts of disobedience can result in fatal consequences. This type of disobedience toward the native people and nature is what proves that disobedience isn’t always a necessary
