Interview Assignment The person I interviewed is named Tom and he is sixty four years old. He is in the middle adulthood period of life. An individual in middle adult is between young adult and elderly, approximately 45 to 65 years of age, whose psychological task, is generativity versus stagnation. I selected this period of development because my father is in this stage and I did not know much about this period. I will be covering vision, illness and disability, speed of processing, memory, siblings and friendships.
Physical Development
Beginning in the early to mid-40s, many adults may start to have problems seeing clearly at close distances, especially when reading and working on the computer. This is among the most common problems adults develop between ages 41 to 60. This normal change in the eye 's focusing ability, called presbyopia, will continue to progress over time.
Vision:
This is very true in my case. My eyesight has been getting worse over the years. Especially trying to read small print and see small objects. Additionally, I find to be a little less comfortable driving at night.
I started to rely on readers at age 45 and used .75 lenses for reading. I have continually had to get stronger ones over the years. It seems about every 3-4 years I had to increase the strength. At 64 I need 2.5 lenses to read.
I do not have glaucoma or cataracts yet but I need to start getting testing for them more often.
