The exercises will help your team come together better and more importantly, work together in a much better way. Improve communication by having the team participate in back-to-back drawing. Two members are sitting back-to-back, one has a notepad and the other describes the object to be drawn. How well was the object described, did the person drawing understand what was being explained? There is also the survival scenario; convey that the team airplane has crashed into the ocean and there is a lifeboat available that fits the entire team and 12 items that they will need for survival. How does the team choose the objects? How do they rank the importance of each item? Watching them work together gives you an idea of how they will work together on a team. To build independence and trust you must create other scenarios. You can try the human spring exercise. This is when ou pair the team in twos and have them touch palms from as far apart as they can. They must end up with only depending on their team member to stay up and not fall. Another exercise is the mine field scenario, this is when they are paired in twos and one person will be the mine field walker while they are blind folded and unable to speak, the other team member must direct the mine walker to the other side without bumping into any of the “bombs” (i.e. chairs, boxes, etc.), or they must start over until …show more content…

How will you measure the effectiveness of this new team in each of the early stages of three, six, and nine months of them working together? One way is to do performance reports on each individual.
