Darth Vader: A Tragic Hero

Darth Vader stands at a towering six-foot eight-inches and wears a black and bulky suit with a black cape and a belt around his waist that holds his lightsaber and gun. He wears an intimidating mask that covers his entire face, without his mask, Vader would die unless in his specially pressurized meditation rooms. His suit is made as a life support suit because Darth Vader nearly lost his life at one time when fighting against his former Jedi-Kinight master, Obi-Wan Kenobi (1). Vader was once a courageous Jedi-Knight but later was seduced to the dark side of the force and became an extremely powerful Sith Lord(2), which is a title for people who have a deep knowledge of the dark side of the force, for the Empire. Before he became Darth Vader, his name was Anakin Skywalker and as a child he was not only a Jedi-Knight prodigy, but he also had the highest midi-chlorian count in the galaxy(3). Midi-chlorian are intelligent life forms that dwell in living things symbiotically and when in significant numbers they allow their host to sense the force.(4)Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin's former Jedi master, explained the force like this, “an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds the galaxy together.”(5). Anakin Skywalker had a count of over 20,000 midi-chlorian which made him more powerful than any other Jedi-Knight in the galaxy and made the task of using the force effortless. Anakin also grew in his fighting techniques and mastered Form V of lightsaber combat, which is where practitioners learned to wait for a chance to strike their opponent instead of creating their own openings(6). After Anakin was seduced to the dark side of the force he became a Sith Lord, his name changed to Darth Vader, which meant he had to edit his fighting style due to his previous injuries and recently acquired suit, but that only made him stronger and more pain and damage resistant. He later learned to use force waves to throw a person or a group of people back into the air without touching them and was able to lift people up into the air as well as choke them, while using the force.
