There is a confidence gap between women and men in our society. According to our society women have certain characteristics and expectations, compared to men; hegemonic masculinity versus emphasized femininity. Women usually are encouraged to talk selectively but properly, they are taught to be careful with their decisions due to their delicate personalities, and often times they have to choose between their career and family.

All the females either lived at home or only 2-3 of hours away. They only move away after they get married. It is a cultural norm and excepted from everyone. I am the first in my family to move away for my education. It was a lot more difficult transition compared to my male counterparts. From the beginning I was discouraged to move away. All of my family and friends tried to persuade me to stay close to home. And it still continues to this day, I still told to transfer closer to home. While male relatives were seen as adventurous and mature due to their move, I am seen as running away from my home and a cold hearted bitch.
