3. Social Development
4. Language Development
5. Physical Development
As a parent of two children, I have life experience when it comes to learning about developmental stages of children. Doctors and healthcare workers give these guidelines to help new parents understand how children can grow and thrive utilizing the areas of development scale. After reading the chapter on the first two years of development, it helped to clarify exactly why theorists and experts have specified criteria for development. Each of the five areas listed above is important for the overall development of a child, but I believe that the emotional development is the most important of all.
Emotional attachment sets the tone for development and trust between parents and children.
