who has spent decades behind bars but with the help of the organization “doe” he's with his family and there is also TERRANCE C. who spent his childhood doing crime and substance abuse now he is out and getting his masters at nyu all thanks to the program “doe” there are many like Michael and Terrance who have a second chance thanks to these programs if these programs can help inmates it can also help prison lower population and violence .Giving inmates a second chance at society it will lower the population in prison from being overcrowded and being in danger it also help decrease gangs in prisons from riots and deaths and it decrease the violence within prisons from protest and from inmates taking over the prisons. It will help them in society to be a better person and to learn right from wrong and in their lives it make them think more positive Ex-offender reentry programs are proven to help recidivism rates among all ex-offenders regardless of sex, race or creed. Many ex-offenders have a very hard time on the outside after serving their sentences. Ex-offenders have difficulties finding jobs, adequate housing or even obtaining photo identification. These difficulties lead to more problems and often cause the ex-offender to get into trouble again. The purpose of ex-offender reentry programs are to mitigate these problems to allow the offender to concentrate on adjusting to life on the outside. Many programs offer short term housing, job assistance and often have other spiritual and therapy aspects within the program. Reentry programs also allow ex-offenders to befriend others that are in their same position. This offers a support system that can be helpful and also promotes a team environment. Some reentry programs are coed while other may only be for male or female
