There are many crimes that Americans commit every day, from lying and cheating, to killing and adultery. There are so many people that just cannot help themselves from committing these frauds. Why do they do it when they know in the end them must face some sort of punishment? A book called “Why Do People Commit Crime?” by Alex Woolf states, “Some argue it is because certain people have been born with a personality that is biologically predisposed toward criminal behavior. It may be that they are impulsive, self-centered people who enjoy taking risks.” (Woolf 10) So people do it for different reasons, but they still must each face the consequences of different sorts. The three most significant crimes that I could see were that of, fortune telling. This is a major sin, because these people used their gifts to try and look into the future, this is abusing this powerful gift. The second, the thieves; taking something that is not yours is a stupid and unnecessary action. Greed is something that you do not want, because it will make you do crazy things. The last one is the act of betrayal; this has to be the worst, because you kill another’s trust in you that you will never get back. By doing this deed, you are killing yourself worth. No one will want to be with you, and in the case of Judas, all you received was money which will get you nowhere in life if you are not happy. At Stanford University a study done by Alice LaPlante, "the experiences people accumulate over the course of spending their limited time, quite literally makes up each person's life. So, if you take away anything from this research, it should be that spending time with the people you love doing the things you love is the best road to happiness." (LaPlante) Experiences are what make you happy, you shouldn’t have to think that money will make you happy, because it can’t. Many crimes are committed, because people want more then they have. They should always remember, happiness is better than doing something immoral to get what you think will make you happy. Be with your loved ones, and nothing can beat
