1. CuO + H2SO4 = CuSO4 +H2O
2. We added copper oxide to excess because we wanted to find a pure copper sulphate and water. We also wanted to make sure there was enough to find copper sulphate. If there was too much copper oxide, then you would witness that there is left over black granules of copper oxide in the copper sulphate solution. Then you need to filter it using filter paper, which is very time consuming.
3. A physical feature used for distillation when separating out the mixture is boiling point as it evaporates and passes through the condenser.
4. We will know there is water present if it boils at 100 degrees.
