Conversion Therapy (reparative therapy) should be banned!

Conversion therapy also known as (reparative therapy) consists of a range of treatments psychologists give to their patients that aim to change an individual’s sexual orientation, or sexual identity from homosexual to heterosexual. Many have made complaints about conversion therapy. For example, that it is harmful not only to the adults who attend this program but especially harmful to the minors who are forced into this program by their parents. There have been cases where patients who attended conversion therapy have complained about loneliness, depression, social withdrawal, suicidality, substance abuse, self-hatred, mistreatment, and even felt separated from their families. According to The Washington Post article “The right therapy for LGBT youth,” author’s Stewart Adelson and Kyle Knight stated “The American Psychiatric Association warns that conversion therapies can lead to depression, anxiety and self-destructive behavior - and notes that "therapist alignment with societal prejudices against homosexuality may reinforce self-hatred already experienced by the patient." Some have filed a lawsuit against conversion therapy due to the fact that they were mistreated, abused and forced to do things that were against their will. In result, Conversion therapy should be banned. Conversion therapy should be banned because lives have been lost, there are many complaints…
