Mondak’s and Halperin’s results indicated that agreeable individuals are likely to participate in local politics, but refrain from participating in matters pertaining to national elections (2008). It’s possible these results were found because national politics tend to be more rooted in disagreement than local politics. Another study, conducted in South Korea, found that agreeableness is negatively associated with voter turnout and all forms of political activity (Ha et al, 2013). These results may have been due to political matters in South Korea being highly controversial and rooted in disagreement.
Findings pertaining to the relationship between personality traits and political views seem to be highly inconsistent and not statistically significant.
