The main reason reported as to why high school couples who go beyond high school never get married is not a loss of love for the person but a craving of freedom and exploration. Relationships that have some sort of spiritual component to them are much more likely to succeed, even if there are contrasting religions or spiritual emphasis in the relationship. According to new research, couples that met in high school not even necessarily dated, have the lowest divorce rate (Highschool Sweethearts). Mormons who marry their high school sweetheart have the highest rate of divorce because they tend to marry the earliest but further research supported the idea that if a mormon relationship lasted for 36 months they are also the most likely to stay married (Highschool Sweethearts). People who break up with their high school sweetheart and marry someone else are more likely to have an affair with the their sweetheart if they are able to reconnect and most people at some point have made significant efforts in trying to reconnect with that person.
