American Teen written by Khalid is a very inspirational and fun song to listen to. In fact, his whole album is. This album was recently released on March the 3rd, so basically a few weeks ago. In this song Khalid sings about the joys of being a teenager having fun with friends, partying and graduating high school. Khalid is an eighteen years old, from El Paso, Texas. He decided to get into music after watching his mother, she’s been singing since before he was born. He used to record videos of him singing to post them on social media, but then the right moment came into place, which led him to creating his own music, and putting himself out there. He hasn’t yet discovered one genre to label himself, because he’s always trying to explore even as a song writer. Figurative language was implied in this song, such as personification “while I’m high off my American dream” this line means that Khalid is not actually high.
