The poem “Mowing” by Robert Frost is about a working man who is in a field cutting grass with his scythe. The theme of this poem is about hard work and how hard work pays off and how you feel complete when you complete your task. A song with a similar theme to this poem is “Working Man” by Imagine Dragons. This song by Imagine Dragons is about the working man and the working class. Throughout the song it goes into depth about how the working life can be tough but you keep having to work through it and the pay is worth it. Both “Mowing” by Robert Frost and “Working Man” by Imagine Dragons are about hard work and how it can pay off. Although they are about the same thing they are also different from each other not only in the way that they are set up but also “Moving” talks more about the feeling of self-worth when you are working rather than the benefits you get that “Working Man” talks about.

These two are similar in that they both both talk about work because in “Mowing” the narrator talks about how his scythe is whispering and how he enjoys the work itself and not the benefits. Like when Robert Frost says “It was no dream of the gift of idle hours,/ Or easy gold at the hand of fay or elf:” (7-8) This is similar to “Working Man” by Imagine Dragons because in the song they talk about how the working man or the working class needs to keep moving and try to change. “Working Man” does this by saying “Been a long time coming for the working man/ So shake it shake it, and were moving again.” (2-3) What they are trying to convey through this is that it has been a long time coming for the working man or working class so they need to finally
