He tried to kill me.’” Also, on page 263 and 264, it states, “ I remembered Erik’s fingers prying my eyelids open while Vincent Castor sprayed white paint into them. They left me screaming and rolling around on the floor of the garage.” The first textual evidence tells us the truth on why paul hates Erik. The second one tells us truth on why paul has bad vision. On page 208, Paul’s mom states, “‘ There’s insecticide in here, too.’” Also, on page 248, Theresa says,”’ Don’t you be coming to Luis’s funeral… Tino and Victor and those guys are saying some bad stuff.’” The first quote is trying to foreshadow that Erik stole from the tented homes because there would no other reason that there is the smell of insecticide inside of the storage area. Also, Erik is the only other person with a key to the storage area. The second quote is trying to foreshadow that Tino and Victor are angry and might beat someone up.
