The use of pathos helps a speaker connect with the listeners emotions. Connecting with a listener 's emotions ables the speaker to persuade the listeners, easily. Marc Antony use pathos in Act 3 Scene 2 when he says "You all did love him once, not without cause: What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him?" (Lines 102-103). Marc Antony says this to remind the citizens that they loved Caesar, but now they are not even mourning him. Antony says this to question the citizens reasons for not mourning their fallen leader. Antony is trying to make the citizens question why they are following the guy who killed their leader. Marc Antony 's last line in Act 3 Scene 2, when he says, "My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar, And I must pause till it comes back to me" (lines 106-107). Antony 's use of pathos here allows him to show the citizens how much Ceaser meant to him. Showing the citizens his vulnerable side, allows the citizens to connect with him emotionally. This in turn makes the citizens, easily persuaded. Brutus 's speech also uses pathos, but Antony 's is more persuasive. Antony 's use of pathos, is more persuasive, because he allows the citizens to connect with him. Brutus only connects with the citizens, and does not make good connections. Using ethos establish credibility with the listeners, which allows them to be persuaded easily. In Act 3 Scene 2 Marck Antony says " He was my friend, faithful and just to me;" (Line 85). Mar Antony 's says this to show that he can connect with Cesar, better than Brutus can. This is also showing the Caesar trusted Antony. This establishes a credibility that Brutus does not have. Marc Antony 's uses another example of ethos in Act 3 Scene 2, when he says, " How dearly Caesar loved him" (Line 210). Antonys is saying this about Brutus. He says this to show the citizens that Brutus had no problem betraying a friend. He is doing to take credibility from Brutus. He is showing the citizens that they can 't trust Brutus, because he had no problem trying Caesar. This allows Anthony to gain credibility and to take credibility away from Brutus. Brutus uses ethos in his speech to, but Antony discredits him by pointing out he had no trouble killing a friend. This shows that he has no compassion and did not care for Caser. Marc Antony 's use of ethos in his speech, helps persuade the audience, because he uses the opportunity to discredit Brutus.
