Community Wheels (CW) is a nonprofit agency seeking to provide income-based transportation to nonprofit clientele in Harrisonburg-Rockingham County, Virginia. Formed in direct response to the growing number of community members who use services provided by the many nonprofits within the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County community, CW will form partnerships with Uber as well as a number of local nonprofit organizations. By doing so, Community Wheels’ goal is to foster a commitment to community members who receive services from various nonprofits throughout the city and county and to provide them with reliable transportation to those local nonprofits. Although this could potentially pose a threat for the sustainability of the organization, we feel as though as the organization expands its services, that private donations will increase and community partnerships will be fruitful. Corporation Description

Community Wheels is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides transportation for local community members in need reliable transportation to and from local nonprofit organizations they receive services from.
Organization History
Community Wheels started as a conversation between two community members concerned about the burden placed on other low-income community members in need of outreach services provided by nonprofit organizations throughout the city. Since that conversation earlier this year, plans have been in motion to lessen the burden those without adequate transportation take on.

Perhaps the most comparable organization is The Rideshare Company. Over the last 25 years, the company has built a reputation as an eco-friendly, carpool/vanpool company. They provide carpools and vanpools for people who are seeking rides to and from work as well as places throughout their respective communities. Although they offer their services nationwide, they do not offer services in the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County community. The closest office is in Charlottesville, Virginia, which is about an hour away. As a result, Harrisonburg-Rockingham County community members are left to rely on expensive modes of transportation, as mentioned earlier.
