1. Panther & PA – Selecting Panther and PA is not a preference out of compliancy, more so an opportunity to improve myself professional with the addition of PA. I have professional experience overseeing multiple buildings with one staff, so I am very confident in my ability to handle this merger. I have been really fortunate working in Panther Hall for the last year 1 ½ and have really found a home with this type of community. I also spent two years working with first year communities at Millikin and through my experience there and here; this is definitely more fitting, both professional and personality. There are a few key factors that really lead to this being my top selection:
a. Community – for the last 1 ½ I have aligned my schedule to really meet the needs of my community by allowing myself available to meet on Monday and Wednesday evening. This has allowed me the opportunity to see the residents within my communities active and involved. As the RD for this community, it has been important to me be active

Nordenberg – The main reason for my selection of Nordenberg as my second community preferences comes from the similarities that Greg and I have. Greg and I work on a very similar wave links when it comes to the day to day interactions and operations; so the transitional piece for me would be really easy. Also, entering into a community that Greg has built the last two year, I would look to continue to implement the plans and goals that he would set forth. Knowing that his understanding of the community and the staff is far more supreme then mine would be, I would look to continue the work he has done in Nordenberg. Nordenberg is also very similar to Panther in layout and communities with the exception of first year students. This would allow me to continue working 1:1 with staff members to individually build their communities. At the end of the day, I believe Nordenberg’s similarities to Panther would allow me to continue to push the community to

The name “Black Panther” holds a different connotation to it depending on who you ask. For some it may be more literal and referring to the actual animal, for others it harkens back to the civil rights group formed in the 1960s. Now however, people are familiar with the term because of the superhero movie released on February 16th of this year. The movie tells the story of T’Challa, King of the fictional African country Wakanda, who returns back to his home country to find that he has a challenger who wants his throne. Yet, boiling Black Panther down to just another “superhero movie” feels disingenuous because the film provides so much more than fighting scenes, action shots, and an obnoxious villain.…
