First: The Soviet Union and America did not have diplomatic relations until 1933 and fought together to defeat Nazi’s in WWII. Even though these two countries fought on the same side during this time the differences in ideology, political views as well as the economics of each country began to create a wedge between them. The two countries turned scientific discoveries into a competitive rival in a race to be the first in several scientific advances as such satellites, rockets, and launching the first man into space. This spilled over into every aspect of both countries maintaining they were better than the other and eventually this lead to the Vietnam War with no one being the winner and many dying as a result.
