Another issue that cocaine has impacted society is with crimes. Majority of the crimes are caused by the influence of cocaine. Cocaine has led to people to kill or rob for money or the drug. This drug is very common to be sale everywhere and they can be exposed to younger teens. The drug has also caused violence with family and has broken homes. These issues are caused by cocaine and the affect society. Cocaine leads to many damages to the brain and the dopamine is blocked to the norepinephrine. According to Beveridge et al. (2005) found in their study that “Activation of the brain dopaminergic system is thought to be the primary mechanism by which cocaine exerts its reinforcing and behaviorally activating effects”. Therefore, once the dopaminergic system has been blocked by the drug individuals are not able to function properly.
