Circumcision is a big decision to make, whether you’re expecting or have a little boy at home or for some it’s whether you have a little girl at home. For some people the choice is there in plain sight, which is to circumcise him or not or when is the right time to circumcise her. This decision is usually based on personal, cultural or religious belief. But for some, especially older men, circumcision is usually based on medical reasons. As for girls, circumcision is mainly based on religious and cultural beliefs. The practice of male circumcision has and is being used all over the world and has some benefits, but also some complications. Female circumcision has no benefits, but quite a few complications, it is even fatal.
Male circumcision is the removal of the foreskin. Boys are born with a hood of skin, called the foreskin, covering the head (also called the glans) of the penis. In circumcision, the foreskin is surgically removed, exposing the end of the penis. This procedure is usually performed on newborns younger than 10 days old, when they are young because this procedure is painful, not as painful as to an older child or an adult, but safer and heals more rapidly than circumcision performed on older boys and adults, and is less expensive. This procedure is of course is done in a sterile field and usually takes about 10 to 20 minutes to perform and is done without anesthesia.
