For as long as I could remember, I have wanted to be a child psychologist. I have always had the desire to alleviate distress and promote me tell health, especially for children. Some children may not have the support or guidance in their home to deal with anxiety and stress. Personally, I grew up in a household with immigrants parents, which was difficult because I was an outcast at school and at home. The environment at school and at home conflicted each with other.I always wanted someone to express my difficulty of balancing two cultures and customs. I often found myself mentally lost and emotionally distress because I felt that no one understood what I was going through. I decided to be child psychologist so a child would have the best care provided to them. As a psychologist I aspire to be compassionate, understanding, and empathetic to those that I work with in my career. I want to be the psychologist I needed when I was younger. To become a good child psychologist, I need to achieve a doctorate degree and certificate for additional training in child and adolescent psychology. In result of coming from a multicultural background,I aspire to have a multicultural approach to treatment by being non-judgmental of people who have ethnic, religious, or cultural backgrounds other than my own. For my practice, I will used various methods, such as, providing play, artwork, and talk therapy to make children at ease when they express to me about anything that is bothering them.
My anticipated academic course plan for the remainder of my degree is taking statistics and psychology research methods courses. I also need to take child, social, abnormal, and applied psychology courses. Additionally, I have to do a work on an internships. For learning domains courses I have to complete all of my understanding the past, scientific inquiry, and arts and literature credits. I am required to take three liberal studies core courses. Lastly, I need to complete fifty-six open electives to complete the requirements to receive a bachelor’s degree in
