Foster Care And Adoption Essay

The age group that I am drawn to working with are children. I’m interested in working in two different areas which are foster care and adoption agencies. I have always had a passion for working with children ever since I was a young girl. Before I found out about becoming a social work, I was going to school for elementary education. Once I completed 2 years I knew that elementary education was not the path I wanted to take when working with children. I want to make sure that I am helping these children go through the separation of their parent by pairing them with a loving and caring foster parent who will treat them like their own children. I want to see these children thrive and overcome all the obstacles that were thrown their way. That is how I want to get my victory. I want to work with adoption agencies because “Every child has the right to a permanent, continuous, and nurturing relationship with a parenting person or people who convey to the child an enduring sense of love and care” (Foster Care and Adoption, 2009, p.148). What child do you know that does not want to be love by a parent? I don’t know any that will say they don’t. Or what about a parent who wants to love a child but cannot bear any of their own? I want to be the person that help that mother/father find a child that they can love like their very own, and I want to help that child find a parent that is willing and able to love them
