A child is dependent on their caretakers to guide them to fully achieve their potential in a healthy development. child abuse and neglect leads to crisis of development. The parents or guardians are responsible of their child since infancy up to adulthood. Although, Erick Erickson indicates from infancy to the age of 6 is the major component and turning point for the child to develop effectively. In this era of childhood will determine the child’s current behavior and future behavior into adulthood. These stages will demonstrate the crisis of social, cognitive, and emotional in children led from the abuse and neglect from their caretakers. Erick Erickson’s first three stages that are a significant impact on the child are trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame, and initiative vs. guilt.

Early child abuse and neglect is evident from birth up to 2 years old is when the child clearly presents mistrust rather than trust. The child demonstrates mistrust in their environment and the people surrounding them. The child will initially be an irritable baby with an uneasy temperament. The child could be unhappy and unadaptable to new experiences and people. Their feeding and sleeping habits will be irregular. They won’t be able to tolerate frustration and feel uncomfortable.
