I chose to research the reason behind concentration camps and what Jews experienced while being put into the camps. Concentration camps have always been a learning topic during the time of the Holocaust. I find it intriguing to learn about the hard labor they were forced to go through and how they had to leave everything behind. The popular belief was that the Jews in these camps were guilty of crime which turned out to be false. Many were innocent and brought into these camps without any say. I also, could not imagine myself going through the hard labor without a choice and having to leave my family behind.
II. Method The method of research I used to gather information was going to reliable sources online and looking up …show more content…
These camps were authorized by Hitler, who was commander and chief of the Nazi’s. The main reason to open camps like this was to arrest and imprison Jews under harsh conditions. Many Jews were taken from their homes and had to leave everything behind and sent away to their death and suffer forced labor. Everyone who was placed into these camps were all held under a constitutional democracy (“Concentration Camps, 1933–1939”). Documents stated the concentration camps increasingly became sites where the SS authorities could kill targeted groups of real or perceived enemies of Nazi Germany (“Concentration Camps, 1939–1942”). Summary Overall, Concentration camps were known to be a place of torture to innocent people. While, doing this research it was shocking to read about the torture the Nazi’s put people through and the deaths of many innocent people. I still do not fully understand how these camps were allowed to stay open when these acts of torture were visible to many outsiders and many lives were taken in devastating ways. Sad to think these camps were just a way of the Nazi’s to show power during the war and their views and they did not care about killing innocent people and taking them away from their families without reasoning. If I could do further research on concentration camps I would look more in depth of the types of families taken into these camps and how some people survived. It would be interesting to research if there was a certain stereotype of people who were taken away to these camps or if it was just random Jews chosen. Also, I wonder how some survived and in some cases considering these camps were under such strict power and control. I was lucky to not have any limitations during my research. I found many helpful resources with accurate data on what I was reaching. Also, I came across some good background history on people who survived these camps and how their experiences during the time were tragic and will never be
