Educating Mrs Wong about her health can further improve her skills, confidence, and knowledge and take control of her health by self-managing and improving her quality of life. The main aim of educating patients is to create awareness. For example, when a person is conscious about their disease, they are more likely to change their lifestyle behaviours and adapt to healthy routines to reduce the risk of receiving other diseases. There are many ways a nurse can educate a diabetic patient about their health and ways in reducing the risk of CVD. This can include: providing the patient appropriate pamphlet and video that is understood in the patient’s language. Moreover, educating Mrs Wong about the importance of exercise and healthy diet is significant, as it can support Mrs Wong’s daily living and reduce the risk factor of getting CVD.
