She is now pursuing a major in Elementary Education and two minors, one in Biblical Studies and another in Intercultural studies.

Rachel has felt called and drawn to go overseas, and that passion grows stronger as each day passes. She would enjoy teaching in the United States, but she is open and joyful to see if God calls her to teach internationally.

God's grace has given her confidence and hope in God's plan and how He will use her for His glory. Her reminder of God;s faithfulness and who He has called her to be is found in Pslam 46.

"The Lord is my refuge and strength an ever present help in troubled days. Therefore, I will not fear though the Earth give way and the mountains fall into the depths of the sea. Though its waters roar and foam and mountains quake with their surging. He says Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in all the earth."

The first stop on that path was Bible College. At the age of 20 she enrolled in Philadelphia College of Bible. During college her mind stayed focused on the “group of brown-skinned people in a jungle.” After she graduated she applied to be a missionary, but was turned down because of her weak back. She was angry about that decision, until she thought that maybe the reason that she was declined was because God was still preparing her people for her.…

It is a great pleasure to recommend Rachel Sitasz for admission to the Edward Hospital Student Volunteer Program. She is one of the most empathetic, kind, and exceptional humans I have encountered in my 14 years of teaching. I teach Rachel in my 8th grade advanced ELA class. Her academics, character, innate curiosity, intrinsic motivation, ethical standards, and unwavering desire to give back, have put Rachel in a class of her own. In fact, for the first time in over 25+ years, the eighth-grade team created a brand new end-of-the-year award for our graduation awards assembly.…

A majority of he writing seems to show people or give them a reason to continue their faith, and let them know that it is never to late to be with God. In this part of the story it was Sabbath, and she reflects on the amount of times she’s either misspent her time or not paid attention to. She mentions that God had every right to cast her out and or let her die, but he showed mercy to her. She writes, “Yet the Lord still showed mercy to me, and upheld me; He wounded knee with one hand, so he healed me with other,” (Rowlandson 131) this shows that because she lacked faith she was punished but since she regained it he helped her. This shows people that it is not to late to believe and be saved by him, they have opportunities to go back and re-exam their religious beliefs.…

Sarah Braun, a 2007 Monmouth College graduate, is living proof that curiosity can take you anywhere. The showcase of Braun’s adventurous lifestyle and attitude was a wonderful way for us incoming college freshman to see the many opportunities that can be possible if one only strives hard enough and applies themselves within a liberal arts curriculum. Braun’s thesis of curiosity can take you anywhere applies to our recent reading of the book Curious by Ian Leslie. As Braun mentioned within the convocation, Leslie describes diversive curiosity as, “follows no particular process or method, but slides from one novel object of attention to the next” (Leslie). Braun explained that it was this type of curiosity that led her to some of her passions.…

Pre-Agricultural Religion Here are three pre-agricultural examples of religion. The Upanishads, Gobekli Tepe and the Ainu/Jomon tradition. All date roughly 14,000 years ago. When I was about eight years old with blue eyes, blonde braids, and wearing my favorite purple tie dye swimsuit, one of my favorite pastimes during the summer was “saving” bugs from our swimming pool. I would swim around the edges of the pool and look for bugs to rescue and nurse back to health, occasionally designating a box in which to place them. On one occasion, my mom walked outside to find me rescuing bugs and separating the living ones from the dead. I would place the dead ones on a piece of paper, but the living ones I put in my box with leaves and flowers. When my mom asked me about it, I promptly answered, "The bugs in the box are in hospice!"…
