Misty Bernall said goodbye to her husband and her children and watched them head off to work and school. It wasn't until around 9 o’clock when Misty received so startling news. There was a school shooting at Columbine High School. She and her husband quickly rushed to the school and were later relocated to a local elementary school. There they found their son but no sign of Cassie. It was a few hours later when they heard the news: Cassie was one of the 13 victims of the massacre. Within the following weeks, Cassie’s friends and classmates beginning to speak to Miss Bernall about the events. Cassies’s classmates recall the moment she was shot when the two shooters walked into Cassie’s classroom and starting firing. Many people hid under desk but Cassie remained in her seat. Dylan Klebold, one of the shooters, asked Cassie if she believed in God. She said yes. The next everyone knew was Cassie on the ground with a gunshot to her head. From then, her mom made it her goal to spread Cassie's story and show how even in the darkest of times, Cassie still said yes to God.
