Evil is the Absence of Good
The Bible teaches that God is a powerful and almighty God. Many people wonder why there is so much pain, suffering, and corruption in the world if there is a presumably good God overseeing it. According to the Bible, God could not possibly cause evil since he is a righteous God. Consequently, everything that is evil is of the Devil. This is purely the reason why there is evil and corruption in the world. “2 Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often met there with his disciples. 3 So Judas, having procured a band of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, went there with lanterns and torches and weapons” [6]. This quote shows how God gave Judas the freedom to betray Jesus, his own son. Freedom is given to everyone and Judas’ freedom resulted in the death of God’s only son. Judas was an apostle of Jesus, his disciple, his follower. Yet, he chose to betray him for a measly 30 silver coins. Additionally, the Jews were given the choice to have Jesus executed or set free. “39 But you have a custom that I should release one man for you at the Passover. So do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?” 40 They cried out again, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a bandit.” [7]. The people chose to crucify an innocent, blameless man rather than a criminal. As a wise person once said, “Evil is the result of free will”.
