Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. (Organizing For Action). Before obtaining a political career, Barack Obama was a teacher and a civil-rights lawyer. In 1996, Barack Obama was elected into the Illinois State Senate and served for seven years, from 1997 to 2004. In 2008, Barack Obama was elected the 44th president of the United States of America. Obama made history, as he was the first African American president to be elected. In 2012, President Obama beat his Republican opponent, Mitt Romney and won re-election. While he lived with his grandparents, Barack Obama went to school at Punahou Academy and played basketball. In 1979, Obama graduated from Punahou University with honors. Not long after high school, Barack went to school at Occidental College for two years the transferred to Columbia University and graduated with a political degree in 1983. In 1988, he started school at Harvard Law School where he would then meet Michelle Robinson a year later, who would soon become Mrs. Barack Obama Jr. (Laura Grimm) On January 30, 2015, at 11:19 AM eastern time, President Obama began delivering his speech titled, “Remarks by the President on Precision Medicine.” The occasion of this speech was a national event and occurred in the East Room of the White House.
