Title: Barack Obama (early life, presidency, etc) Here is my project on President Barack Obama. I found this really interesting because he is a historical figure who changed the US with simply his presence in office. Obama being in office was significant because he was the first black president of the United States. Included is Obama’s early life and presidency. Obama is a great representation of the struggles of an African American male living in America. He wrote a book, (Dreams From My Father) in which he goes into further detail about his life. Barack married Michelle LaVaughn Robinson who became the first black first lady to be in office. While she was in the white house she became an advocate for health and higher education. Obama’s mother was white while his father was black (Kenyan). Obama stated that he grew up as Hawaiian, Indonesian , Black, and White. Barack’s father divorced and left his home when Obama was two. He left and continued his education at Harvard. …show more content…
Before his death he came back to Hawaii when Obama was ten, this was the last time that Obama saw his father. Obama and his mother left Hawaii to go to Indonesia. In Indonesia Obama’s mother married another foreign exchange student who became Obama’s step father. Obama was sent back to Hawaii to go to Punahou school which was a very prestigious school. While Obama was in school, his mother divorced and came back to Hawaii to continue her education. During this time, Obama lived with his Grandparents who he describes as not being religious. He lived with his Grandparents on his mother’s side. He states that his relationship with his grandfather was difficult. We don't know if this was because of the racial differences.
