The War of the 1812 involved military conflict that lasted for more than two years from 1812 to 1815. The war was fought between American soldiers and their United Kingdom opponents based in Canada at the time. His parents were immigrants from Ireland. Jackson received a little formal education. His parents were poor, having emigrated from Northern Ireland only two years earlier. They were pious Presbyterians. They settled in Philadelphia in North America in 1765. The father died on February 1767 in an accident when he was only 29 years of age (O'Connor and Martin 91). Jackson was born when his mother was on her way back from home where she had gone to burying his father. The mother and two siblings (Cumming 67) died between 1780-1781 when Great Britain invaded South Carolina and he was taken
