The scientific name for the Shoulder Joint is Glenohumeral joint. The Glenohumeral joint is a true synovial ball and socket joint. The joint allows the shoulder joint to move in a circular rotation and also to move towards and away from the body.
2) What bones make up this joint?
There are 3 main bones that make up the Glenohumeral joint. The Humerus, scapula and Clavicle make up this joint. The clavicle makes up the front part of the shoulder girdle, the scapula forms the roof of the shoulder. The scapula is the large, flat triangular bone and it forms the back portion of the shoulder girdle.
