Being a real estate agent isn’t always easy. Just like any industry, there are those who give it a good name and those who give it a bad name. The bad agents are the minority, but because of their poor practices, they make the rest of the real estate agents look bad.
There are a number of things that can cause real estate professionals to get a bad rap. Money hungry, untrustworthy, and commission hungry agents who will say or do anything just to make the sale affect the good reputations of good agents.
How Do Agents Get a Bad Reputation?
Money – Money is a powerful motivator that can promote poor behavior. People who sell property and homes should be paid fairly for their time, effort, foot work, and dedication they put into finding just the right home or property for a given buyer or investor. That was a time when they felt driver to do or say anything just to make the sale. That doesn’t happen as often in today’s real estate environment. Everything known about the property has to be disclosed by the agent.
What makes a good real estate agent?
Agents who work towards building a good reputation in the community are apt to be willing to take their time to build good relationships with their potential home buyers and investors. This is the attitude of a majority of agents in the business.
Many agents get just as excited as their buyers when they find the perfect home for them. It’s a time to celebrate and the energy is contagious. There is a special satisfaction in helping home buyers for most real estate agents. First time home buyers get especially excited, which transfers to the agent as they get to experience that excitement.
