Atomic theory developed 2,500 years ago and evolved around the question whether or not something could be divided into forever. Greek philosophers debated this subject a lot, especially one name Democritus. He believed that something would only be able to be divided to a certain point because matter consisted of atoms and atoms are indestructible. Aristotle, however did believe something could be divided forever and did not believe in atoms. With all this controversy, one would expect an atom model much earlier than it actually came in the early 1800s. Changes were made over the years, but the most recent one was about 85 years ago (Wysession, Frank, and Yancopoulos, 2011). Erwin Schrodinger, professor and physicist, and Werner Heisenberg, a professor, collaborated to make the newest atom model in 1926 called the Electron Cloud. …show more content…

But, Werner and Erwin discovered electrons moved in unpredictable ways, and could only be explained by intricate math problems (Erwin Schrodinger-Biographical,2015) (Werner Heisenberg-Biographical, 2015). This model has gathered information from all the others, plus more to create the most correct model. This was shown through scientific explanations. Scientific explanations are temporary solutions that change when a scientist makes a new discovery. Although scientific explanations say a lot about atoms, we cannot see them, and are forced to rely on proven facts about atoms (Wysession, Frank, and Yancopoulos, 2011).
